The site was a former sand and gravel borrow pit, and construction rubble dump approximately 435,000 square feet in area.  The specific design called for the removal (cut) of material from the western side for placement (fill) towards the center of the site.  Calculations showed that there was 21,965 cubic yards of material cut and 52,618 cubic yards needed for fill.  A low-permeability soil/vegetative cap was then installed.

The site was first selectively cleared then surveyed to provide control points. An access road and temporary erosion control structures were constructed. The erosion control structures included a sedimentation basin and runoff diversion swales. Cutting and filling then took place to provide positive drainage across the site.  The entire area was graded and capped with a clayey soil layer.  Restoration and stabilization of the site was accomplished by placing a layer of topsoil over the clay material and seeding with native grasses.
